Intro

Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft is seeking a Division Manager for their Research and Development/Chemistry division at the Fraunhofer Institute for Microtechnology and Microsystems IMM in Mainz. The successful candidate will be responsible for the professional and economic development of the interdisciplinary division, strategically developing the division in close coordination with the institute management, and ensuring efficient workflows and structures in the division. They will also be responsible for developing new topics and business areas, acquiring application-related research and development projects from industrial clients and public sponsors, and ensuring the scientific and economic exploitation of the division's project and research results. The ideal candidate will have a university degree in chemistry, process engineering, biomedical chemistry, biochemistry, physics, microsystems technology, chemical engineering or a comparable field of study, practical experience in a comparable position or environment, and enthusiasm for technical-economic topics. Aufgaben

  • Have overall responsibility for the successful professional and economic development of the interdisciplinary division
  • Strategically develop the division in close coordination with the institute management
  • Develop new topics and business areas and acquire application-related research and development projects from industrial clients and public sponsors
  • Ensure the scientific and economic exploitation of the division's project and research results as well as the high scientific quality of the division's research and development work
  • Represent the institute and the division at national and international events
  • Lead, promote and develop the employees of the division professionally and personally

Anforderungen

  • University degree in chemistry, process engineering, biomedical chemistry, biochemistry, physics, microsystems technology, chemical engineering or a comparable field of study, preferably with a doctoral degree
  • Several years of experience in leading interdisciplinary teams of scientists or larger scientific and technological working groups or related organizational units in an industrial environment
  • Enthusiasm for technical-economic topics, ideally know-how in cooperation with scientific institutions or in consulting companies and/or other organizations as well as in acquiring public and industrial funds
  • Strategic thinking, strong analytical skills, strong communication skills, a flair for trends as well as an independent, responsible and sustainability-oriented way of working
  • Confident and winning demeanor, very good presentation skills, persuasiveness, a high level of customer orientation, a motivating and cooperative leadership style, and enthusiasm for working with people from various disciplines
  • Business fluent in written and spoken German and English and willingness to travel domestically and abroad
