Social Media Marketing Manager (d/f/m)

Full-time, hybrid
Place of work: Vienna or Berlin

We are The Innovation in Politics Institute, an international, non-partisan company that aims to strengthen democracy in Europe. Our growing team is working on many thriving projects, and we have ambitious plans for the  future. For our communications team, we are hiring a passionate and experienced: 

Communications and Social Media Manager (f/m/d)

We’re looking for a Communications and Social Media Manager to grow our network of political professionals across multiple channels (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Email Marketing are our primary channels, but also YouTube and TikTok) and to contribute to our cause: changing the future of politics.

You will take over the entire social media management lifecycle, including ideation, planning, production, community management, and reporting. You will be “the voice and face on social media” for the Institute and our programmes, adapting our tone and writing style to the needs, opportunities, and dynamics of each channel. 

You will report to the Head of Marketing Communications and work closely with members of our communication team and project managers, as well as communication experts, videographers, editors and project managers to develop and share political innovation stories.

What you’ll work on:

  • Create and oversee content (optimised for social platforms, specifically LinkedIn, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, YouTube and Facebook), including community engagement – in collaboration with the Communications Team and other external providers 
  • Own the multi-channel social media communications plan for The Innovation in Politics institute and all its Programmes
  • Research, plan and develop a detailed schedule of activity for each campaign together with the Communications Team (content/email marketing/social media plans)
  • Produce high-quality audience-focussed content including written and graphic, to engage with and influence target audiences for various social media platforms, press releases, landing pages and newsletters
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to make social content compelling for organic and paid digital marketing campaigns, including public events (e.g. Innovation in Politics Awards gala)
  • Analyse performance of social content and incorporate insights into future content decisions while maintaining knowledge of the latest social media trends and best practices by providing monthly performance reports
  • Special events communication: plan and implement social media communication measures in local crises/critical issues in coordination with the Head of Marketing Communications 
  • Maintain relationships with politicians, partner organisations and other stakeholders in close coordination with European partners

Essential skills, qualifications and background:

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in Social Media Marketing, Communications or a related field in an international environment
  • Solid portfolio of launching successful social media engagement campaigns
  • Previous experience working in a start-up
  • Experience managing, analysing, and communicating KPIs as well as optimising social media marketing campaigns to achieve specific results 
  • Designing content for email marketing campaigns 
  • Effective communicator and partner to all relevant stakeholders in the business
  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills in English 
  • Proven ability to translate brand strategy into engaging content
  • Excellent writing, editing and content creation skills across multiple channels including social media, email marketing and websites
  • Social media marketing tools (META Ads Manager, LinkedIn Ads Manager, Twitter Ads, Youtube Ads and Google Ads)
  • Appreciation and understanding of European political affairs and political culture that contributes to an understanding of the tastes of the Institute’s social media followers

Desirable skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Journalism, Communications or other relevant training
  • Other European language skills
  • Design editing skills with Adobe Photoshop/InDesign and/or similar tools like Canva Minimum of 1 year of experience managing diverse teams of external providers for extensive projects or campaigns 
  • Experience in working with influencers

We benchmarked an annual gross salary range of EUR 60-75,000 for this role. If our advertised salary doesn’t match your current expectations, just let us know and we’re open to discussing it further.
