Your mission

The Ableton Learning Team makes freely-available online tutorials in music production, music theory, and related topics. We’re looking for a developer to join our small team working on the design and implementation of browser-based software for music learning.

Our work uses web technologies to create new forms of play-based, self-directed learning experiences for musicians of all levels. We aspire to make our work available to a wide range of musicians regardless of their background, ability, or spending power. Your responsibilities

• You program, test, and profile rich interactive experiences for the browser.
• You collaborate with other team members via pair programming, pull requests, code reviews, and contributing to a bug tracker.
• You design software that interfaces with both complex legacy code and new developing systems.
• You provide thoughtful input towards technical design decisions.
• You take part in conversations, workshops, and design sessions with a variety of domain experts to tackle complex interdisciplinary challenges at the borders between software engineering, digital audio, music, and pedagogy.

Your profile

• You have experience developing music apps, digital musical instruments, games, installations, or other types of software with an emphasis on real-time audio and visuals.
• You have experience building software from scratch (either independently or in a small team) and contributing to all aspects of an early-stage software project.
• You are the type of person who engages with the challenge of developing performant software for a wide variety of devices, not only the most capable and most expensive.
• You have experience working with browser accessibility features.
• You bring a viewpoint to the team that is underrepresented in the fields of music and technology.
